Time in America

It has been quiet on this blog! If you have wondered what is up with the radio silence, let me tell you a bit about the craziness that has been our life for the last month. First of all, we are in the States!! We arrived in South Dakota on October 15th. We are just now emerging from jet-lag induced brain fog. There were several inches of snow on the ground when we landed in Sioux Falls. I thought I was going to die of hypothermia just walking to the car! Thankfully, the snow, and the cold temperatures that brought it, only lasted one day. We are now in the midst of a lovely Indian Summer (is it still ok to use that term?) which, to us equator dwellers, feels like fall. We are loving the crisp temperature, drinking coffee, wearing sweaters, and doing all things fall.

The weeks leading up to our trip are a blur. Even though this is our third time to do this furlough thing, it was still chaotic over the last few days. I really tried to have everything planned and organized, but there is just something about packing up your whole life for two months the lends itself to unexpected last-minute pandemonium. One thing that we are super proud about is the fact that both of our centers are running so well that we feel complete peace about being away for two months. We know that the managers, staff, kids, and parents all have things under control. Kelly Mollel is also there, holding down the fort in our absence. We are so thankful for our dedicated staff. They are all praying for us as we try to raise the funds needed for Walk In Love for 2019. Matt and I are so blessed to be working with such a faithful, hard working group of people.

I am confident that you are dying to know when and where we are speaking so that you can come hear about the work Walk In Love is doing. I will not keep you in suspense any longer. Consider this your personal invitation to come see us and hear about all the awesome ways our projects are helping strengthen and empower families in Arusha. We will be speaking at the following locations:

Mount Olivet Church in Huron, South Dakota – Sunday, October 21st at 6:30 PM

South Dakota Women’s Expo, SD State Fairgrounds in Huron, South Dakota – Saturday, October 27th

Freeman Community Center in Freeman, South Dakota – Sunday, October 28th at 12:00 PM

Impact Church in Temple, Texas – Sunday, November 4th during Sunday morning worship starting at 11 AM and during a meal to follow.

The Vine Church in Temple, Texas – Sunday, November 11th at 2 PM

St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church in Longview, Texas – Weekend of November 17-18. Exact date and time to be announced.

We would love to see YOU at any of these events. However, I know that for some it is simply not possible. If that is you, please be praying for us as we work to fundraise. This is a new (and stressful!) experience for our family. Also, I ask that you please share with anyone who might be interested in supporting Walk In Love. 100% of every donation goes directly to the projects that are making a life-changing difference to families in the Arusha area. We still have plenty of time for meeting with you or your group during the middle of the week. Please, if you have a group that might be interested in hearing us speak, let me know by email or Facebook message.

We are so excited to talk about what Walk In Love has done and what we have planned for the future. We are changing lives in a very real way. We have exciting plans for expanding our reach in 2019, and would love the chance to tell you about this. Here is a little teaser of part of our presentation.
