Going Forward

babybottlesOverall, our goal for the first year is systems, systems, systems. We want systems for the care of the babies, systems for out-reach and adoptions, systems for facilitating family integration of our motherless children, systems for the volunteer program. The thought of the organizational challenge makes my pulse race, I love systems and organization. I love watching ideas take shape and programs go from development to implementation to thriving. Although Neema House has been in operation for over a year now, it has not had a consistent director, and some of the organizational foundation is missing or crumbling. The Fortsons have done an amazing job serving as both the state-side and on-sight directors, but the vision is too grand and the daily needs too demanding for just one couple to manage both positions. With us in place as the on-sight directors, Dorris and Michael will be able to spend more time fund-raising and working on the greater vision, while we manage the day-to-day challenges in Africa.

I am sure (or at least I hope!) at this time you are asking, how can we help and what does your family need in order make this call to Africa a reality. I am so glad that is on your heart, I am sure that God put it there for just this moment. I cannot even begin to tell you how many times God his had to hammer it into my heart, “I will take care of you, I will take care of you, I, your God, will take care of you.” I believe Him. I really do. I open my Bible and words like give us this day our daily bread… and who of you by worrying… and seek first His kingdom… and how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him, fall into my lap?! I know, at this very moment, God is raising up those who will support us while we are living and serving in Africa. I have had many of you ask without even knowing what we are undertaking, spurred by the Holy Spirit. I want you to know that I am humbled to tears to think that someone would be willing to support us in this, but the ministry is so amazing, and we are just so lucky, so very fortunate to be able to be a part of it. I wish you could know how amazingly blessed we feel that God has decided to use us in this way.

Yes, we do need support, and the numbers make me dizzy, but they do not make my God dizzy, nor does the timing. He knows the numbers, we feel strongly that the timing of the first week in December has already been given by Him, we just need those of you who feel that your part in this ministry is to support us to donate as you are led to do. We are in need of monthly supporters and one time supporters and prayer warriors. Please, please pray for us. Neither Matt nor I are formally trained in anything like this and often times have looked at each other and wondered what we could possible be thinking, but God always shows us the next thing, a word here, an answered prayer there, a song or word from our daughters and this choice is confirmed a thousand times over, so we move forward in faith.

We are so proud of you for your decision to move to run Neema House. I will pray for you and Neema House, so add me to your list of prayer warriors. I will donate, when possible.

You can tell by the little toddler bellies that these little ones are well-fed. It’s wonderful that you can take tiny 4-pound babies and get them to the place where they run around, play happily, eat well and sleep so contentedly. It’s an amazing ministry. I know you are doing the right thing, but we will miss you a lot. Our prayers will be with you! (and support too!) Love you so much!

We are so thrilled that you have answered His call! I know that Grandma DeDe is jumping for joy! She loved little children and so did our Lord as he took time to give them his love and attention during the few short years he walked on this earth. Praying for Him to open the hearts of those who He has called to GIVE as He leads!

Goodness we are excited for you! My husband (Steve) and I were only able to visit for several days back in November of 2010, but Neema House is forever in our hearts! We will pray for you and all involved whenever you come to mind & will talk about how else we could support you!

Hope to meet you all there someday & be able to bring our now 3 year old Sarah along to help next time! I’m crazy excited about your plan for “systems”!!!! I love organization! Bless you all abundantly :) – Lana -
